More Than I Can Bear
The other day I had to go to the grocery store to pick Gia up some milk and some other things too. When we got back home, I tried to grab all of the bags and take them all in at once. However, I could not grab the milk, so I thought.. hmm.. I’ll hand it to Gia. I thought, surely a half of gallon of milk is something that an almost 2-year old can carry. So I gave it to her and it was the cutest thing to watch her try her hardest to carry the bag.
Eventually, she asked for help so I took the bag from her and carried it into the house.
Isn’t that how God does us?
He gives us something that we think is hard and heavy to carry, and lets us try to for a while. And like Gia, we don’t ask for help until it gets too hard, when maybe we should ask for his help from the beginning.
If there is one thing that I know about God it’s that He will never put more on you than y’all can bear. And I say y’all, because too often do we Mamas think that we can do life all on our own, or we think that we need our child’s dad to be there to do life with us, when God is saying, “No, you are not alone. I am here. I will help you.”
In this season as a Christian Single Mama, God has made my life so much better because I am more dependent on him and less dependent on myself. I am learning to ask for his help from the start instead of waiting until I find myself in a mess.
I encourage you to do the same. I know it’s hard to ask others for help. But your Father God wants nothing more than to help you. He wants nothing more than for you to lean and depend on him. Trust me, your life will be so much better for it.
