Faith Without Wisdom Is Foolishness is a blog series where I walk through the book of Proverbs daily!
Read: Proverbs 1
Key Verse: “Let the wise listen to these proverbs and become wiser…” Proverbs 1:4
Wow! Right off the bat we are faced with a nice introduction of what we getting ready to get ourselves into. The purpose of the proverbs is stated clearly in verse 1 and 2:
The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel:for gaining wisdom and instruction; for understanding words of insight;
Some of the key phrase that stood out to me were:
- Let the wise listen to these proverbs and become wiser… (Verse 4)
- Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge… (Vere 7)
- Such is the fate of all who are greedy for money; it robs them of life…. (verse 19)
- But all who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm… (verse 33)
You know, I realize that I started on a journey that I know little about, but I am so excited because the Lord knows that I want to be able to live in peace without being troubled by fear of being harmed. I desire to become wiser and that’s why I started on this journey. I am fearful of God in the way that I know that he is in control of my life and everyone in it and everyone around me. He is a force to be reckoned with, and there’s no doubt about that. Then I think about that third point and how true that statement is. How often do we see people of the World and even people in church, lose their life’s because of their pursuit of money.
This passage is so clear and it sets the tone for this journey that we are on. Proverbs is full of wisdom as it touches on subjects like integrity, money, sex, relationships and family.
Therefore, if you could use ANY advice in regards to those things, come back tomorrow for more!
