Who Am I?
Sometime last year, I was interviewed for an article about Christian Single Mama and my journey. One of the questions that the interviewer asked was, “Who are you?” I gave her the answer I would have given someone if they were asking me that for a job. However, the interviewer was not satisfied with that answer and I wasn’t sure what they were looking for so I asked them to explain. I mean, what would you say if someone asked you that question?
Later I thought about it and the purpose of that question is so important. Who you say you are is a reflection of what you believe about yourself. The interviewer was correct for asking me that question over and over again and the last answer I gave was, “I don’t know,” and from there the interview proceeded. What I learned was that, you’re name is not who you are, your position is not who you are, and while we’ll go over that another time, it’s something to keep in mind when thinking about who you are.
To be honest, if you asked me that question again today, I’d say, “Because of God’s loving kindness, I’m forever changing,” and you know what, that would be correct.
As we figure out our identity in Christ I want you to keep that question in the back of your mind, “Who am I?” And pray about it and listen to what God has to say to you and be aware of what the World has to say to you as well.
To the Christian Single Mama, God sees you as His.
And because you are His there are several other labels that you wear.
It doesn’t matter how much you have messed up, or how far away you have strayed, YOU ARE HIS! Isn’t that wonderful?
However, to the Mama reading this who does not believe in God, know that he loves you and he’s waiting for you to accept him. Only after you accept him will you FULLY get to experience his grace and his love.
