You cannot afford not to take care of yourself.
Have you ever heard of the anecdote about pouring from an empty cup? It cannot be done. As a single mother, chances are you responsible for taking care of everyone in your home. Do not forget to take care of yourself.
When you are sick, take the time that you need to get well. OR avoid getting sick to the best of your abilities by eating healthy foods and exercising and drinking water and a little bit of wine (1 Tim. 5:23). If you do not take care of yourself, a doctor visit could be in your near future. Don’t have time or money for that? Then!!! TAKE CARE OF YOU!
Self-care doesn’t have to be expensive
Here are a few ways that you can take care of yourself without spending any money at all.
- Journal Daily.
Consider keeping your prayers in a journal and write your heart out to the Lord. Cast your cares – your worries, your concerns, your victories, your downfalls- on the Lord. He cares for YOU! Using a journal to document your prayers is also beneficial because you can go back later and see how far God has brought you. Think about positive things. Affirm yourself. Think about, “whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.” – Phil. 4:8
- Go for a walk
Get out of your home and go for a walk. It could be a walk around the mall, or the park, or your neighborhood. Going for a walk also counts as exercise! Excising is not only good for your body, but it is good for your mind! Bottomline is it good for YOU!
- Read a book.
Read the Bible or any other book. Reading takes your mind of the worries of life. Focusing your mind elsewhere for a while is beneficial. It relaxes you. Check out the CSM store and have a look at the books there.
- Take a nap
Resting was God’s idea! In the beginning of Genesis God worked on creating the earth and then he RESTED! So should you! Make sure you take time to rest.
